BAMAG and SKion Water Launch Regional Water Technology Hub in Egypt from the Grand Egyptian Museum

Cairo – October 13, 2026 — Under the auspices of the Embassy of Switzerland in Egypt, BAMAG and its global partner SKion Water officially launched the “Water, Knowledge, Civilizations” initiative during a landmark event held at the Grand Egyptian Museum, aiming to establish Egypt as a regional hub for advanced water technologies serving Arab and African markets.

To spearhead technology localization, BAMAG and SKion Water entered into a strategic agreement to transfer, standardize, and localize advanced European water treatment technologies in Egypt. The partnership focuses on expanding the local manufacturing of electromechanical equipment and establishing a dedicated regional technology center in Egypt.

In a major step toward capacity building, BAMAG partnered with the Water Research Center of Excellence (WRCE) at Ain Shams University Faculty of Engineering to establish the BAMAG Academy. This institutional educational platform will offer an accredited Master’s program alongside the BAMAG Speaker Series to bridge academic research with industrial expertise and train the next generation of engineers.

Furthering innovation in the sector, BAMAG, the Lt. Gen. Mohamed El-Assar Foundation for Sustainable Development, the WRCE at Ain Shams University, and MASAR for Consultancy and Business Development jointly launched the “Lt. Gen. Mohamed El-Assar Scientific Research Award (Water Track)”. The inaugural edition of the award focuses on accelerating water desalination research into scalable, practical solutions.

Leadership at BAMAG and MASAR emphasized that these combined initiatives mark a crucial transformation, merging European engineering heritage with Egyptian consultancy expertise, industrial capabilities, and academic excellence to drive sustainable development across the region
